Equipment for oil and natural gas liquid quality control

GOST R 54389-2011 “Gas stable condensate. Specifications” came into effect on July 1, 2012. This is the first regulatory document governing condensate quality which obtained the state standard status. As the specifications for this product presuppose a list of analyses identical to the stock tank oil analyses according to GOST R 51858-2002 “Oil. Specifications”, we consider it correct to market one of our lines as equipment for gas stable condensate and stock tank oil analysis.

It is evident that re-equipment of gas processing plant laboratories is expected in the near future. So we will be glad if our technical solutions become not only a useful information source, but also a basis for drawing up equipment requests.

The packages listed below were offered in 2001-2002 as ready-made solutions for standard methods implementation for the stock tank oil analysis. The packages appeared right before the introduction of the new oil specification GOST R 51858-2002 and gradually became the classic cases of quality control methods implementation included in this standard. Over the past years, the packages haven’t undergone any significant changes – new models appeared, technical solutions were improved. Gradually these methods became the standards of production laboratories equipping for West Siberia oil production enterprises.

All investigations of oil quality control can be divided into several groups:

1. On a shift basis – performed for each crude oil run:

  • Test for density, relative density and API gravity by a densitometer according to GOST 3900-85, GOST R 51069-97
  • Test for oil and oil product density by a digital analyzer according to ASTM D 5002
  • Test for sulfur using energy-dispersive x-ray fluorescence spectrometry according to GOST R 51947-2002, ASTM D 4294
  • Test for water mass fraction in oil and oil products according to GOST 2477-65, Dean-Stark method
  • Test for water content in crude oil according to ASTM D 4377, Karl Fisher method
  • Test for chlorine salts in stock tank oil according to GOST 21534-76

 

2. Decade – performed at least every 10 days:

  • Test for mechanical impurities content in stock tank oil according to GOST 6370-83
  • Test for oil saturated vapor pressure according to GOST 1756-200, ASTM D 323
  • Test for hydrogen sulfide, methyl- and ethyl mercaptan in oil by chromatographic method according to GOST R 50802-95
  • Test for chlororganic compounds content in oil according to ASTM D 4929, GOST R 52247-2004
  • Test for paraffin according to GOST 11851-85
  • Test for fractional oil content according to GOST 2177-99, ASTM D 86

 

3. Additional – performed at the request of the receiving party or as required for process:

  • Test for kinematic viscosity and dynamic viscosity calculation according to ASTM D 445, ГОСТ 33-2000
  • Test for flow point and pour point according to ASTM D5949


4. Technological or field – performed for producing method control:

  • Test for water and sediment in crude oil by the centrifuge method according to ASTM D 4007, D 97
  • Test for water and sediment in crude oil by hot break in water bath method
  • Six component analysis of stratal and injected waters according to RD 39-23-1055-84
